How did you come up with the idea for this product?
Dermaflage was invented in Hollywood special effects to conceal scars and wrinkles on actors and news anchors on HD film. It was invented by professional makeup artists, but we have simplified the product for consumers to use Dermaflage as a daily concealer.
What makes your product special?
Most makeup concealers address discoloration, but Dermaflage also corrects the shadows caused by uneven skin. You can use our tinted silicone to fill in recessed scars and wrinkles. Dermaflage is translucent to let your natural pigment come through, flexible so that it moves the skin, water proof and lasts all day.
What has been the best part of your startup experience?
I am energized when I hear from customers who tell us of their renewed confidence they have gained by using our product. Most of our customers just want to feel normal, and it is empowering to give them a new tool to conceal their imperfections. Now they can do normal things with confidence: start dating again, ask for that raise, share a selfie (from any angle). On the lighter side, I have a lot of fun at cocktail parties when people ask me what I do for a living, and I can say – “I make skin!”
